LOCHRYNACH. Scottish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (Athole, Hunter, Johnson, Martin/2002, Marshall): AABB (Lerwick): AABB' (Kerr, Martin). A note in Marshall's volume reads: "This good Old Reel is inserted at the particular request of the Duke of Gordon." It was not one of Marshall's compositions, but was rather a favorite tune of Alexander, the 4th Duke, Marshall's employer. Cape Breton fiddler Johnny Wilmot's "Hughie Shorty's Reel" has similarities.
