LOCHRYNACH. AKA - "Loch Rynach." AKA and see "Comical Corner (2)." Scottish, Reel (whole time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (Athole, Hunter, Johnson, Lowe, Martin/2002, Marshall): AABB (Lerwick): AABB' (Kerr, Martin). A note in Marshall's volume reads: "This good Old Reel is inserted at the particular request of the Duke of Gordon." It was not one of Marshall's compositions, but was rather a favorite tune of Alexander, the 4th Duke, Marshall's employer.

Cape Breton fiddler Johnny Wilmot's "Hughie Shorty's" has similarities. The melody appears in Northumbrian musician William Vickers' 1770 music manuscript collection as "Commicall [sic.] corner/Comical Corner (2)," but the title "Lochrynach" has not yet been found in collections older than Marshall's 1822 volume.
