Tune properties and standard notation
CATTERTHUN. Scottish, English; Reel. England, Northumberland. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Hardie): AAB (Hall & Stafford, Raven). Composed by Robert Lowe and published in his Collection of Reels, Strathspeys and Jigs, Book 4 (1844-5). Catterthun is a hill in Forfar upon which are ancient sites (Brown Catterthun and White Catterthun) dating from the time of the Picts, once thought to be home to Druids.
