Back to Never Love Thee More

NEVER LOVE THEE MORE. AKA and see "I'll never love thee more (1)." English, Country Dance Tune (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. The tune dates to 1686 when it was published by John Playford in the seventh edition of his Dancing Master. It was retained in the long-running dancing master series in every subsequent edition through the eighteenth and last, published in London by John Young in 1728. Young was heir to the John and Henry Playford's publishing concerns. It was also printed by Walsh and Hare in The Compleat Country Dancing Master (London, 1718), and in John Walsh's (father & son) The Compleat Country Dancing-Master (London, editions of 1731 and 1754).

See also note for "annotation:I'll never love thee more (1)" for more on this tune, which predates Playford and whose provenance is disputed.
