PARTHENIA [3]. AKA and see "Jovial Beggars (1) (The)." English, Air (6/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. This is the older air for the song "Parthenia," found in Playford's Musick's Delight on the Cithren (1666). The words to the ballad, as with other songs called "Partenia," are lost. The melody and country dance directions were also published in the second supplement to the 3rd edition of the Dancing Master, published by Playford in London in 1665.
