'''DONNYBROOK MAID, THE.''' AKA and see "[[Hould the Reins]]." Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Researcher Conor Ward finds the tune under this title in the c. 1880's music manuscript collection of fiddler Francis Reynolds (Gaigue, Ballinamuck, Co. Longford), albeit with parts reversed from "[[Hould the Reins]]" and versions under other titles. The key signature in the MS was give as 2 flats, or G Minor, but (as Ward points out) the tune makes little sense in that key, and plays much better in 'G' Major. The second strain strays into modal territory, and is in 'G' Mixolydian.
