MOLLY PUT THE KETTLE ON [7]. Old-Time, Breakdown. USA, Missouri. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA’BB. Unrelated to the usual “Molly/Polly Put the Kettle On” versions. Ozarks fiddler Bob Holt seemed to equivocate a bit on where he learned the tune and what the title was, but believed that he picked it up from a radio broadcast of regionally famed fiddler Lonnie Robertson. Beisswenger & McCann (2008) point to similarities with the Ozarks tune “Minnie Put the Kettle On,” so there may have been some confusion.
