GIGUE DES SUCRES. AKA - "Reel des sucres." French-Canadian, Jig. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. The two strains of "Gigue des sucres" are identical to the first two strains of the New England jig "Portland Fancy (1)." Allard, who lived, worked and played in the United States for many years, may have picked up the tune while in New England.
