BARLEY GRAIN [3], THE. Irish, Reel (whole time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The melody was entered into the large mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork cleric, uilleann piper and collector James Goodman. Hugh and Lisa Shields find Goodman's "Greggs Pipes (2)" a cognate version, and note that the 2nd strain of "Barley Grain (3)" is shared with that of "Knocknaboul Polka (2)" (Polca Chnoc na bPoll),
