Composed by Edinburgh fiddler-composer and bandleader annotation:Nathaniel Gow and first published as a country dance in his Favorite Dances of 1812 (p. 1). The tune and dance also appear in the Scottish Country Dance Book vol. 8 (No. 3).

Calver Lodge is a branch of Masonic ritual.
