SEAN FONN DÚR, AN (The Firm Old Tune). Irish, Double Jig (6/8 time). D Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The title is a misnomer, at least with regard to tonality in the first strain. The second strain is in 'D' mixolydian, however, the first strain starts as if in E minor, then suggests G major in the third and fourth measures before finally landing in D mixolydian at the cadence; hardly a 'firm old tune'.
