REEL DE BEAUPRÉ. AKA and see "Steamboat Quickstep," "Uncle Jim." Canadian, Jig (6/8 time). Canada, Quebec. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The jig was recorded by Montreal fiddler Joseph Allard (1873-1947) for Victor Records in 1934. According to Labbé (1995), the melody was used by Tchiakovsky for one of his ballets. Jean Duval, in his notes to the tune, informs that the tune is the vehicle for the song "Bon voyage, Mr. Dumollet" [1]. A version is also used for air to the Newfoundland song "Lots of Fish in Boniface Harbor."
