KANSAS CITY REEL. Old-Time, Reel. USA, Arkansas. A Major/Mixolydian. Standard or AEae tunings (fiddle). AB (Silberberg): AA'BB (Phillips). The tune was first recorded by Bob Larkin (d. 1942) in Memphis, Tennessee, February, 1928, for OKeh Records. The group consisted of Bob Larkin (fiddle), son Forrest "Bob" Larkin (piano), daughter Alice Sherbs (guitar), and William Holden Sherbs (guitar), who lived in Prairie County, Arkansas. "Kansas City Reel" has some 'musical DNA' from "Lardner's Reel (1)" evident in the first strain.
