22nd REGIMENT'S QUICK STEP, THE. Scottish, March (2/4 time). A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The 22nd Regiment of Foot [1] was raised by the Duke of Norfolk in 1689 and was able to boast an independent existence of over 300 years. It fought in the Williamite Wars in Ireland, and the French and Indian War and the American War of Independence. In the same year the melody was published in Glasgow musician James Aird's publication, it had been newly retitled the 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment of Foot.
