REEL DE ST-PIERRE. French-Canadian, Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. "Reel de St-Pierre" was recorded by Montreal fiddler Isidore Soucy in 1931 for Starr Records. Soucy researcher Jean Duval [1] notes that Soucy's second strain resembles parts of "Cardeuse (La)," and that harmonica player Louis Blanchette recorded a similar piece. Duval speculates the title may refer to a family name, Ville St-Pierre (a small neighborhood of the city of Montreal), or St. Peter himself.
