BIG-EARED MULE [2]. American, Reel (cut time). USA, Ky. D Major ('A' & 'B' parts) & G Major ('C' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABCC'. No relation to "Big Eared Mule (1)"/"Flop Eared Mule" although both tunes have a quadrille-style key change between the first and second strains. The melody was recorded in 1940-41 from the playing of Salyersville, Magoffin County, east Ky., fiddler biography:John Salyer (1882-1952), by his sons who had purchased a disc recording machine.
