COQUETTE À POUPA, LA. A 'crooked' or irregular metered (in the 2nd strain) reel from they playing of Montreal fiddler J.O. LaMadeleine and his son, Marcel, recording in August, 1936. LaMadeleine researcher Jean Duval finds that the first strain of the tune is very similar to James MacIntosh's "Loch Ordie" (parts reversed) and recalls the Irish reel "Heather Breeze (1)" [1]. In this case coquette (=flirt) refers to the last figure of a square set, notes Jean.
