Back to Cackling of the Hens (The)


CACKLING OF THE HENS, THE. AKA and see "Hen's March (1) (The)," "Hen's March to the Midden (The)," "Hen's March O'er the Midden (The)." English, Scottish. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. This title appears in Walsh's Third Book (London, c. 1730) a collection of Lancashire tunes, although it is perhaps better known as "The Hen's March to the Midden." "Cackling of the Hens" also appears in the c. 1786 music manuscript collection of American flute player Henry Beck.
