Back to Castleton Wake
CASTLETON WAKE. English, Jig. England, North-West. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Dance instructions for "Castleton Wake" appear in Cahusac's Twenty Four Country Dances for the Year 1791 (London). The Castleton Wake was an annual fortnight-long holiday in the village of Castleton, Derbyshire, located in the Peak District.
