Back to Disputant (The)
DISPUTANT, THE (La Disputeuse). AKA and see "Growling Old Man and (Grumbling Old) Woman." French Canadian, Reel. B-Flat Mixolydian (?). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABCC ('C' part is irregular in rhythm). The tune can be found in numerous versions and variants throughout Quebec and the Maritime Provinces. Maritime fiddler Don Messer popularized the tune as "Growling Old Man and Woman."
