The melody appears in several printed collections of the latter 18th century, including Charles and Samuel Thompson's Compleat Collection of 200 Country Dances, vol. 4 (London, 1780), Niel Stewart's Select Collection of Scots, English, Irish and Foreign Airs, Jiggs & Marches (Edinburgh, 1788), and James Aird's Selection of Scotch, English Irish and Foreign Airs, vol. 2' (Glasgow, 1785).
