Back to Fire on the Mountain (6)
FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN [6]. Old-Time, Breakdown. A Major. AEae tuning (fiddle). AA'BB. The tune is unique to Kentucky fiddler Isham Monday, and is not related to other "Fire on the Mountain" tunes (which Monday also played, but under the title "Sambo"). Titon (2001) notes some similarities with "Fire on the Mountain (7)."
Source for notated version: Isham Monday, recording in the field in 1959 (Tompkinsville, Monroe County, Ky.) [Milliner & Koken].
Printed sources: Milliner & Koken (Milliner-Koken Collection of American Fiddle Tunes), 2011; p. 199. Titon (Old TIme Kentucky Fiddle Tunes), 2001; p.
