Back to Frankie
FRANKIE. Old-Time, Breakdown. USA, north-eastern Ky. A Major ('A' part) & D Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'B. The tune was in the repertoire of Buddy Thomas's grandfather, Jimmy Richmond, although Thomas learned it from the whistling of his mother. Mark Wilson (1976) notes that the tune is related to Pete Riley's tune "Rattlesnake" and to a tune called "Boatin' Up Sandy" played by a Portsmouth, Ohio, fiddler.
