Back to Honorable Mrs. Oliphant Murray's Reel (The)


HONORABLE MRS. OLIPHANT MURRAY'S REEL, THE. Scottish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Janet Oliphant was the daughter of John Oliphant of Bachilton, Perthshire, styled Lord Oliphant. She eventually inherited from him when he died in 1781. In 1803, Janet married Alexander Murray, 8th Baron Elibank. Their two children adopted the family name Oliphant-Murray. Janet died in France in 1836.
