Back to Humors of Westport (The)


HUMORS OF WESTPORT, THE (Sugra Catair-Na-Mart). AKA and see "Milestone in the Garden (The)." Irish, Reel. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (O'Neill/1850 & 1001): AABB (O'Neill/Krassen). The tune is usually played in the key of 'D' at modern sessions. The tune was popularized by Sligo fiddler James Morrison who recorded the tune in New York in 1935, under the title "Milestone in the Garden (The)." See also related "Pretty Peggy (5)." The Irish tunes may be derived from a Scottish original, "Clydesdale Lasses (The)."
