JACK'S HEALTH. AKA and see "Bolt the Door." Irish, English; Jig and Country Dance Tune (6/8 time). A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'B. The melody appears in O'Neill's 1903 Music of Ireland as "Bolt the Door." The pairing with the Playford dance "Jack's Health" is relatively modern, and is often the preferred tune to the Playford original. As is often the case, through association the name of the dance has become attached to the tune.
