JACK'S WHIM. English, Country Dance Tune (2/4 time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody was originally published in Charles and Samuel Thompson's Compleat Collection, vol. 3 (London, 1773). It was included twice in the 1788 music manuscript collection of fiddlers John and William Pitt Turner (Norwich, Conn.), among several other tunes from the Thompson's 1773 volume. John Johnson had earlier printed different tunes under this title.
