Back to Jefferson's March
JEFFERSON'S MARCH. American, March (whole time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A march composed in honor of the election victory of Thomas Jefferson as 3rd president of the United States, in 1801. The march was printed on a single-sheet by Philadelphia publisher George Willig (185 Market Street), with the heading: "Performed a the Grand Procession at Philadelphia on the 4th of March, 1801." The march appears in subsequent period publications, such as T. Olmstead's Martial Music. A Collection of Marches, published in Albany in 1807 by Daniel Steele, and G.E. Blake's Gentleman's Amusement, No. 2 (Philadelphia, 1824).
