JOHN KIMMEL'S. AKA and see "Haley's Jig (2)," "Haley's Favorite," "Sean McGuire's." Irish, Jig. G Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. Named for John J. "Dutch" Kimmel (1866–1942), a famed Brooklyn accordion player who recorded in the 78 RPM era.
Source for notated version: Boston C#/D accordion player Joe Derrane, who identified it as a Kimmel tune. O'Malley says fiddler Sean Maguire learned it from him "in 1959 when he stayed at my house for two weeks. I have since seen it in a collection as 'Sean Maguire's'" [O'Malley].
Printed sources: O'Malley (Luke O'Malley's Collection of Irish Music, vol. 1), 1976; No. 90, p. 45.
