WILLIE STAYS LANG AT THE FAIR. AKA and see "Jockie Stays Lang at the Fair." Scottish, Jig (9/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDDEEFF. Robert Riddell of Glenriddell, in whose 1794 collection this tune appears, credits one set of variations to J. Clark of Moffat, who was perhaps his source for the tune. Clark is credited throughout the volume with variation sets, and may possible have been a teacher or playing companion of Riddell's.
