Back to He hirpl'd till her
HE HIRPL'D TILL HER. Scottish, Reel. A Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody appears earliest in print in Robert Bremner's 1757 collection, according to John Glen (1891). 'Hirpl'd' means 'hobbled', while 'till' (sometime 'til') indicates 'towards' or 'to'; thus the title means "He hobbled towards her."
