"Green Meadow Waltz" is a related melody. Mike Seegar is quoted as saying: "I know of no other fiddler who uses Arthur Smith's device of singing in harmony with the fiddle on the last lines as he does in 'Green Valley Waltz'" [Florence Times, July 28, 1968].
