DEVIL IN IRELAND, THE. English, Jig. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Original key 'C' major, as "The Divel in Ireland" in Gibbons' manuscript. "The Devil in Ireland" was used as an alternate title for the tune "Devil or No Devil" printed by J. Hewitt in Fashionable Repertory... of Country Dances & Waltzes (New York, 1807), but it is a different melody than the one in Gibbon's ms.
