GILLIECRANKIE. AKA and see "Killiecrankie." Scottish. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). The melody appears under this spelling in McGibbon's Scots Tunes, Book II (c. 1746) and the (James) Gillespie Manuscript of Perth (1768), inscribed "A Collection of the Best and Most Favourite Tunes for the Violin...Perth. Collected and Transcribed by James Gillespie M,DCC,LX,VIII."
