The Mill of Newe is approximately two miles east of the village of Bellabeg in Strathdon. Lawson found a cache of coins from the reign of Henry III in a cairn at Mill of Garochy, Aberdeenshire, and donated them to a museum. Walker also composed a stathspey, "Mill of Newe," and may have had a personal connection with Lawson.
