Back to Dumfries-shire Hunt (The)
DUMFRIES-SHIRE HUNT (THE). Scottish, Reel. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Capt. Robert Riddell (1755–1794), of Glenriddell, appearing in his Collection of Scotch Galwegian Border Tunes (1794), printed in Edinburgh by Johnson & Co. Riddell (sometimes spelled Riddel) was a frient and patron of Robert Burns from 1788 to 1793; they were “unco pack and thick thegither.”
