FAREWELL WALTZ. AKA and see "Over the Waves." Old-Time, Waltz. USA, Ky. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABB. Kentucky fiddler Doc Robert's version of "Over the Waves." R.P. Christeson (1984) remarked on the melody: "...(it) was an accompanist's nightmare. It has poor phrasing, an excessive number of measures, and was improperly structured." Christeson reworked the tune for his volume, improving the line.
