KILLAVIL FANCY. AKA and see "Coleman's Cross (2)," "Éilís Ní Bhrógáin," "Eilis Brogan," "Farewell Reel," "Killavil Reel (2) (The)," "Ryan's," "Ten Pound Float (The)." Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (most versions): AA'B (Taylor): ABB' (Harker/Rafferty). Originally a County Sligo reel, named for the town of Killavil, birthplace of fiddler Lad O'Beirne and others. The tune is played in both single and double reel versions in sessions.
Source for notated version: New Jersey flute player Mike Rafferty, born in Ballinakill, Co. Galway, in 1926 [Harker]; fiddler Brenda Stubbert (b. 1959, Point Aconi, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia) [Cranford].
