Back to Dargle (The)
DARGLE, THE. The melody was used in the 1772 London stage production Irish Fair, which featured Irish and Scottish country dance tunes. It is a different piece than "The Dargle," a Dublin broadsheet ballad which begins "Come, haste to the wedding" and may have been a variant of that famous melody. See also the similarly-entitled "Waxies Dargle (The)" and "New Dargle."
