P.J. CONWAY’S SLIDE. Irish, Slide (12/8 time). Composed by Bronx, New York, button accordion player James Terence 'Jesse' Winch [1] (b. 1943), a founding member of the Washington, D.C.-based band Celtic Thunder. Terry’s father was a tenor banjo player who played with famed accordion player Patrick "P.J." Conway for parish dances and house parties in New York. Conway recorded numerous sides in the 78 RPM era, and Jesse is the present owner of his instrument.
