P.J. CONWAY’S SLIDE. Irish, Slide (12/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by Bronx, New York, button accordion player James Terence 'Jesse' Winch [1] (b. 1943), a founding member of the Washington, D.C.-based band Celtic Thunder. Terry’s father was a tenor banjo player who played with famed accordion player Peter "P.J." Conway for parish dances and house parties in New York [2]. Conway recorded numerous sides in the 78 RPM era, and Jesse is the present owner of his instrument.
