Back to Honorable Charles Bruce (The)
HONORABLE CHARLES BRUCE, THE. Scottish, Reel. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Miss Magdalene Stirling of Ardoch, the tune first was printed in in John Bowie's 1787 collection. Magdelene was a member of an old Perthshire family, a branch of whom held lands in the parish of Muthill, and she was a friend of Niel Gow and his son Nathaniel, who published a few of her compositions in their publications.
