Back to Doctor's Cross (The)

DOCTOR'S CROSS, THE. Irish, Hornpipe. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by County Cavan/Philadelphia fiddler and composer Ed Reavy (1898-1988) in memory of a crossroads once located outside Cootehill town near the village of Barnagrove, where Reavy grew up. A doctor's house stood nearby, but when Reavy went back in the 1960's to visit the area the dwelling had been torn down, the road changed and the crossroads apparently obliterated.
