FROSTY MORNING [1]. Old-Time, Breakdown. USA; West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee. A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Silberberg): AABB (Brody). A tune by this name is mentioned as having been played in a 1931 account of a LaFollette, northeast Tenn. fiddle contest. In the 1960's it was collected by Alan Jabbour from Glen Lyn, Virginia, fiddler Henry Reed (born c. 1885, Peterston, Monroe County, West Virginia). See his notes on the tune [1]. Jabbour popularized it with his influential late 1960's recording with the Hollow Rock String Band.
