Back to Déirctheoir (An)


DÉIRCTHEOIR, AN (The Beggar). AKA and see "Beggar (The)," "Beggarman (The)," "Duke of Aberdeen (The)." Irish, Air (2/4 time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. A version of the popular and common British Isles' "Beggarman" or "Little Beggerman" family of tunes.

Source for notated version: the Irish collector Edward Bunting obtained the melody from another collector, Dr. George Petrie, in 1839.
