Back to Harvest Home Waltz
HARVEST HOME WALTZ. English, American; Waltz (3/8 time). G Major (Irwin): C Major (Howe). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. This waltz melody appears in the c. 1838 music manuscript collection of Lake District, Cumbria, musician William Irwin and an untitled piece. A tune by the name of "Harvest Home Waltz" (which may or may not be related) was played by fiddler Gene Clardy, who was one of the older Mississippi fiddlers to record in the 78 RPM era. It is said he taught Mississippi fiddling great Willie Narmour to play.
