The polka was composed in 1842 by Austrian composer Johann Strauss Sr. as “Beliebte Annen Polka.” A version of this tune appears in appears in the mid-19th century Browne Family music manuscripts from England as "Annan Polka," but it should not be confused with Johann Strauss Jr.’s “Annen Polka,” written in 1852.
