EMPRESS ANNE POLKA. American, Polka (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABCD. The polka was composed in 1842 by Austrian composer Johann Strauss Sr. as “Beliebte Annen Polka.” A version of this tune appears in appears in the mid-19th century Browne Family music manuscripts from England as "Annan Polka," but it should not be confused with Johann Strauss Jr.’s “Annen Polka,” written in 1852. The polka was also entered into the Book 4 of the mid-19th century music manuscript collection of Bellport, Long Island, musician biography:Isaac Homan.
