Back to Down Home Rag (2)
DOWN HOME RAG [2]. Old-Time, Country Rag, Breakdown. USA, Missouri. G Major ('A' part) & D Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'B. Unrelated to "Down Home Rag (1)." According to R.P. Christeson, the "Down Home Rag" title for this tune is a misnomer.
Source for notated version: Gary Johnston (1937-, Nevada, Mo.), learned from Lyman Enloe [Beisswenger & McCann]; Missouri fiddler Wayne Crane, who played it at a Boone County dance in 1972 at which R.P. Christeson was in attendance [Christeson].
Printed sources: Beisswenger & McCann (Ozarks Fiddle Music), 2008; p. 78. R.P. Christeson (Old Time Fiddler's Repertory, vol. 2), 1984; No. 180 (appears as untitled two-step).
Recorded sources: County 762, Lyman Enloe - "Fiddle Tunes I Recall" (1973). Rounder CD 0436, Gary Johnston - "Traiditional Fiddle Music of the Ozarks, vol. 2" (2000).
