The melody also appears in John Johnson's 200 Favourite Country Dances, vol. 8 (London, 1756) and again in Charles and Samuel Thompson's Complete Collection of 200 Favourite Country Dances, vol. 3 (London, 1773). It is a derivative of the popular older Scottish air and dance tune "Woo'd and Married and a'."
